Privacy policy
The new features described below apply to version 1.2. This description does not confirm that the update is available in your App Store. Earlier behavior in versions 1.0 and 1.1 is noted separately.
This policy describes the iPhone app poopoint, also named “Я здесь какал” in Russian. The developer is Dmitry Bondarchuk. Contact: dvbondarchuk@gmail.com.
Your private journal
In version 1.2, place names and types, dates and times, ratings, tags, notes, your visibility preference, selected coordinates and available place information are stored locally in the app on your iPhone. You can enter a name and type yourself or choose from the venues found. The developer does not receive these entries. Versions 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 have no accounts, app-owned journal server, CloudKit synchronization, advertising or analytics.
Both visibility options, “Only me” and “Maybe share later”, save the entry locally. The second option does not publish an entry or send it to anyone.
Postcards from version 1.1
Postcards are available from version 1.1. Version 1.2 adds five layouts — Stickers, Passport, Certificate, Meme and Pass the throne — and a separate place-type field. The earlier version 1.0 does not create postcards.
A postcard is created locally on your iPhone. Preview the finished image and choose its fields before sharing. The city/country, when available, rating and a short caption are shown by default; the place name, date and note are optional. Version 1.2 also lets you include the place type. The name and type are off by default and have separate controls. You can also hide the city/country. A long note is shortened to 180 characters, including the ellipsis, and shown in the preview. Coordinates and addresses are not included in the image.
The image is passed to an app or recipient you choose only after you use the standard share sheet; you can also save it through Files. Your chosen recipient or app processes the image under its own policies. The developer does not automatically receive the postcard, and the app has no publishing service. The “Maybe share later” preference still does not send or publish anything by itself.
A temporary PNG with a generic filename is created on your device for the share sheet. The app removes this temporary file when sharing finishes or is cancelled; copies you save or send remain under your control and the recipient's control. Your journal is not changed. The app does not request photo-library access or save postcards directly to Photos.
Location
In version 1.2, the app requests location access when you choose “I’m here now” or center the map. Your location is used to choose the current point and show your position on the map; there is no background tracking. Manual map selection and search by place name or address do not require location access.
In version 1.2, newly selected coordinates are saved without extra rounding or displacement. Current-location accuracy depends on the data supplied by iOS and the system’s Precise Location setting.
Versions 1.0 and 1.1 saved points on an approximately 80-metre grid and sent the rounded point for address lookup. Updating does not restore the original precision of earlier entries: they keep their saved coordinates.
Apple services
In version 1.2, when you search for a place, Apple receives your search query and the current map area. The area’s center is sent without extra rounding.
In version 1.2, when you add a visit using “I’m here now” or a map-selected point, the app may automatically search for venues near that point. You can also start a nearby search with “Find places nearby”. Apple receives the selected point and the nearby map area for this search. You choose a venue from the list; the nearest place is not assigned automatically. A type is filled in only when Apple supplies a recognized category. If a station or another venue has no known category, the type remains unset and you can choose it yourself; the app does not infer a type from the name. You can edit the name and type yourself.
Search does not send notes, ratings, dates, tags or other journal entries and does not require location access.
Apple Maps supplies the map through MapKit. Apple receives the selected map area to display it. In version 1.2, for an optional address lookup, the app sends the selected coordinates to Apple’s geocoding service, without the place name or type, note, date, rating or tags. The city, country and address found, including a house number when available, are stored locally in your journal.
Apple may process technical request information according to its privacy policy. An entry is still saved if there is no connection or an address lookup fails; the address remains unknown.
Storage and deletion
Entries stay in the local journal until you delete them. Open an entry's details, tap the delete action and confirm. Deleting the app removes its local storage.
App data may be included in normal iPhone backups according to your Apple settings. Backups are managed separately in system settings; deleting a local entry does not automatically remove earlier backup copies.
You can change or revoke location access in iOS Settings → the app → Location. Manual place selection continues to work without permission.
Support requests
If you email dvbondarchuk@gmail.com, the developer receives your sender address and message contents to respond. Email is hosted by Gmail under Google's policies. Do not send personal entries or your location unless needed to resolve the issue. To request deletion of correspondence from the developer's mailbox, write to the same address.
This website
The support and privacy pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. These pages have no forms, analytics scripts or advertising trackers. When someone visits a GitHub Pages website, GitHub records and stores the visitor's IP address for security purposes, whether or not they are signed into GitHub. GitHub may also process technical request information according to its privacy statement. Visiting this site does not give GitHub or the developer access to the journal on your iPhone.
Changes and questions
This policy will be updated before a release adds synchronization, public places or other data processing. Questions about the current version can be sent to Dmitry Bondarchuk at dvbondarchuk@gmail.com.
