Small Outside / Field notes

Use & safety

A few practical notes for taking your tiny expeditions at your own pace.

Effective date: 6 October 2026

A gentle invitation

Small Outside offers short prompts for noticing ordinary outdoor surroundings. Each expedition is optional. You can return early, cancel, or finish without a word or photo. It does not verify where you went or whether you completed a prompt.

Choose what fits your surroundings

Use your own judgement about weather, visibility, traffic, access, and your abilities. Stay on familiar public paths, respect boundaries and other people’s privacy, and do not enter restricted areas. Put the phone away when crossing roads or when attention is needed.

If a prompt does not fit the setting, skip it or stop. A suggested duration is an invitation; it is never a requirement to stay outside.

Keep a copy if it matters to you

Your Atlas is stored on your iPhone. You may export a copy from Settings. Keep any exported file somewhere you trust and manage it as personal data. Deletion of local records cannot be undone by the developer.

Read the privacy policy for information about local storage, photo selection, backups, and contacting support.

App Store license

For App Store downloads, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies. These use and safety notes do not replace that license or limit rights you have under applicable law.
